White-domed churches, Aegean sunsets, ancient ruins and the world's most romantic island
Greece is the cradle of Western civilization and one of the world's most beautiful countries. The iconic blue-domed churches of Santorini perched on volcanic caldera cliffs at sunset is one of travel's most defining images. But Greece is so much more — Athens has the Acropolis and Parthenon, the world's most important ancient monument. Mykonos has beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife. Crete has the Palace of Knossos and the Samaria Gorge. The Peloponnese has Olympia and Nafplio. And everywhere, the Mediterranean food, the retsina wine, and the Greek warmth make every moment special.
May to June and September to October are the best times — warm, sunny, fewer crowds than July/August, and better prices. July and August are peak season — very crowded (especially Santorini), expensive, but vibrant. April is lovely for Athens sightseeing with fewer crowds. November to March is low season — some islands are quiet but Athens is great year-round.
