Big Five Safari, Masai Mara wildebeest migration, hot air balloons and Maasai culture
Kenya is the world's ultimate safari destination — the birthplace of safari, the setting for Out of Africa, and home to the most famous wildlife spectacle on earth: the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara. Every year, 1.5 million wildebeest, 350,000 zebra, and 200,000 gazelle cross the Mara River in a life-and-death drama that is one of nature's greatest shows. Kenya also has Amboseli National Park with elephants and Kilimanjaro views, Lake Nakuru's flamingos, and the beautiful Kenyan coast with Diani Beach.
July to October is peak safari season and the best time for the wildebeest migration and river crossings in the Masai Mara. January to March is excellent for wildlife (fewer crowds, cheaper). November and December are green season — good wildlife, lush landscape, lower prices. Diani Beach is lovely year-round.
