Darjeeling Tour Package — The Queen of Hills Awaits You
Darjeeling is one of India's most beloved hill stations — a magical town perched at 2,042m in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas, where the world's finest tea grows on terraced gardens and the majestic Kanchenjunga (8,586m — third-highest peak on Earth) dominates the horizon. Luxytrix Travel's Darjeeling tour packages 2026 combine the town's legendary sunrise experiences, UNESCO heritage toy train, colonial charm, and remarkable Himalayan scenery into unforgettable itineraries for travellers from Noida, Delhi, Mumbai, and across India.
Darjeeling has long been one of the most popular destinations for families, couples, and solo travellers from Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Chennai, Surat, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Indore. Our packages are carefully designed to include the iconic experiences — Tiger Hill sunrise, toy train ride, tea estate tour — alongside some of Darjeeling's hidden delights that most tourists never discover.
Tiger Hill — India's Most Famous Sunrise
Tiger Hill at 2,590m is the highest point near Darjeeling and home to what many consider India's most spectacular sunrise. On clear mornings (particularly common October–November and March–May), you can see the Kanchenjunga group of peaks illuminated in gold, and on extraordinarily clear days, even Mount Everest (8,848m) and seven other peaks above 8,000m are visible simultaneously. The 4am drive to Tiger Hill, bundled in warm clothes as the pre-dawn darkness gives way to the most spectacular light show in nature, is a memory that stays forever. Luxytrix pre-books Tiger Hill taxis the night before — these fill up quickly and must not be left to chance.
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway — UNESCO World Heritage Toy Train
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, built in 1881, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most remarkable mountain railways. The narrow-gauge steam train ("Toy Train") covers 88km from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling through extraordinary mountain terrain — spiraling loops, zigzag reverses, and viaducts that seem impossible. The Batasia Loop near Ghoom is perhaps the most photographed section — the train spirals around a circular garden with Kanchenjunga as the backdrop. Even a short joyride between Ghoom and Darjeeling station (the highest point at 2,258m) is an unforgettable experience that no visitor should miss.
Tea Estates — Where the World's Finest Tea is Born
Darjeeling tea is so distinctive it holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag — only tea from this specific region can be called "Darjeeling tea." The Makaibari Tea Estate, established in 1859, is the oldest tea estate in India and one of the first to practice biodynamic farming. A guided tour through the estate — watching workers pluck the "two leaves and a bud," observing the withering and rolling process, and finally tasting the freshly made orthodox tea — is a deeply sensory experience. Happy Valley Tea Estate, just 3km from Darjeeling town, is another excellent option. Buying estate-direct tea is far superior to tea bought in shops.
Ghoom Monastery & Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
Ghoom Monastery (Yiga Choeling) is the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in India, built in 1875. Its most prized possession is a 5-metre statue of the Coming Buddha (Maitreya), surrounded by ancient thangkas and prayer wheels. Ghoom station at 2,258m is the highest point on the Darjeeling railway. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) was founded in 1954 after Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary's first ascent of Everest — Tenzing himself was the first Director of Field Training. The museum here displays Tenzing's original climbing equipment, Everest expedition photographs, and a remarkable history of Himalayan mountaineering that enthrals visitors from Delhi, Mumbai, and across India.
Padmaja Naidu Zoo & Peace Pagoda
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is India's only high-altitude zoo and specialises in endangered Himalayan species. It is one of the few places in the world where you can see Snow Leopards, Red Pandas (Darjeeling's beloved mascot), Himalayan black bears, and Tibetan wolves up close. The Japanese Peace Pagoda — a gleaming white Buddhist stupa — offers panoramic views across the Darjeeling valley and towards Kanchenjunga. Observatory Hill hosts multiple religious shrines — Hindu, Buddhist, and tribal — representing the remarkable religious harmony of Darjeeling's diverse community.
Mirik, Sandakphu & Beyond
Mirik Lake, 2.5 hours from Darjeeling, is a charming resort town with a picturesque lake, boating, pony rides, and an orange orchard road that is one of the Himalayan foothills' most beautiful drives. Lepchajagat is a pristine forest retreat near Darjeeling perfect for birdwatching and nature walks. Pashupati Market on the Nepal border near Mirik offers duty-free goods and a fascinating glimpse of the India-Nepal border. For the adventurous, Sandakphu (3,636m) is West Bengal's highest point — accessible April–June and September–November — with views of four of the world's highest peaks: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu.
