Jim Corbett Tour Package – 2 Nights / 3 Days

Jim Corbett National Park — established in 1936 as India's first national park — is the jewel of India's wildlife tourism and the most accessible big-cat safari from Delhi and Noida (just 250km away, 5 hours drive). Named after the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, this park in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand is home to over 215 Bengal tigers, making it one of the world's most important tiger habitats. Our 2-night Jim Corbett package is the perfect weekend wildlife escape for families, couples, and wildlife enthusiasts from Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon who want a thrilling tiger safari without a long journey.

The Safari Zones – Choosing the Right Zone

Jim Corbett is divided into five main zones — Dhikala (the largest and best for tiger sightings, requires overnight stay at Forest Rest Houses), Bijrani (best for day visitors, high sighting rates), Jhirna (open year-round, good for leopard, crocodile, and elephant), Garjia (riverside zone near Ramnagar, excellent for birdwatching), and Durga Devi (remote, best for birds and elephants). Luxytrix books permits for the zone best suited to your stay duration and interests. The Ramganga River flows through the park, attracting extraordinary concentrations of wildlife — especially during dry season (March-May) when animals gather at water sources.

Wildlife Beyond Tigers

Jim Corbett's wildlife extends far beyond its famous tigers. The park has one of India's largest elephant populations (1,200+), healthy leopard numbers, sloth bear, gharial and mugger crocodile (Ramganga River), wild boar, sambar and spotted deer, barking deer, and the rare Himalayan black bear in higher elevations. The birdlife is phenomenal — 650 species recorded — including the Great Hornbill, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Pallas's Fish Eagle, and dozens of species found only in the Himalayan foothills. Corbett is also a great destination for travellers from Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai who want India's most accessible and established wildlife experience.

The Corbett Experience Beyond Safaris

Beyond jeep safaris, Jim Corbett offers canter safaris (open truck, cheaper but less intimate) into the Dhikala zone, elephant-back safaris (at specific forest rest houses — highly controversial but still offered at some locations), river rafting on the Kosi River near Marchula, trekking in the buffer zone, birdwatching walks at dawn, and the famous "Ramganga Sunset" viewpoint at Dhikala. The heritage town of Ramnagar (the base for Corbett visits) has the fascinating Corbett Museum at Chhoti Haldwani (Jim Corbett's ancestral home). For travellers from Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Corbett combined with Nainital makes an irresistible 5-6 day Uttarakhand package.

Jim Corbett Tour Package – 3 Nights / 4 Days (Most Popular)

Our most popular Jim Corbett package gives you 4 safaris (2 dawn + 2 dusk) across two different zones — dramatically increasing your chances of tiger, leopard, and elephant sightings. Staying 3 nights at a quality jungle lodge ensures you maximise the park's golden hours. This package is our most booked for travellers from Delhi, Noida, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Surat, Chandigarh, Indore who fly in for a dedicated wildlife break. Starting from ₹12,999 per person.

Dhikala Zone – The Crown of Corbett

The Dhikala Zone is Jim Corbett's finest — a vast grassland (chaur) ecosystem in the park's core, accessible only with an overnight permit at the Dhikala Forest Rest House. The grasslands attract enormous concentrations of sambar, cheetal, and elephant — and in turn, the highest tiger sighting rates in the entire park. Watching a tiger emerge from the sal forest into the open Dhikala chaur at dawn is one of India's greatest wildlife moments. Dhikala permits sell out 45 days in advance — Luxytrix books them immediately upon confirmation.

Jim Corbett + Nainital Package – 5 Nights / 6 Days

This perfect combination package pairs Jim Corbett's tiger safaris with Nainital's charming hill town experience — the iconic Naini Lake, Mall Road, Snow View Point, Nainital Zoo, Jim Corbett Museum, and the scenic Kumaon hills. A favourite for families and couples from Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Delhi who want wildlife + hill station in one seamless 5-night journey. Starting from ₹17,999 per person.

Nainital – Jewel of Kumaon

Nainital, 35km from Jim Corbett, is the most charming of Uttarakhand's hill towns — nestled around the emerald Naini Lake at 2,084m. The Naina Devi Temple at the lake's edge, the Nainital Ropeway to Snow View Point (Himalayan panorama), boat rides on the lake, the Governor's Estate (colonial-era mansion), and the bustling Mall Road make Nainital an irresistible addition to any Corbett trip. The Eco Cave Gardens and Tiffin Top viewpoint are popular with families.

6 Essential Jim Corbett Travel Tips

Expert advice from our wildlife safari specialists

📅
Book Safari Permits Early
Jim Corbett permits open 45 days in advance and sell out within hours for peak months (Nov-March). Weekend safaris are especially competitive. Luxytrix books permits the moment they open — booking with us is the only reliable way to secure peak-season permits from Delhi and other cities.
🌅
Dawn Safari is Non-Negotiable
Tigers are most active at dawn (5:30-9am). Sighting rates at dawn are 4-5x higher than afternoon safaris. Never skip the dawn safari to sleep in — it's the entire point of the trip. Evenings are good for bird activity and returning animals heading to water.
👗
Wear Earth Tones Only
Wear khaki, olive, brown, or grey in the park. White, blue, red, and yellow colours startle wildlife and reduce sighting chances. No perfumes or aftershave. Bring a light jacket even in summer — early morning safaris at 5:30am are surprisingly cold even in April.
📷
Bring a Good Zoom Lens
Tigers often appear 50-150m away — a 200mm minimum zoom is essential for decent photographs. A 400mm+ lens transforms your experience. If you don't own a telephoto lens, rent one in Delhi or Noida before departure. Binoculars (8x42) are also highly recommended.
🚗
Book a Private Jeep, Not Canter
Canter safaris (shared 16-person trucks) are cheaper but significantly lower quality — noisier, more disruptive to wildlife, and no ability to stop or adjust position. Private jeeps (max 6 people) give you a far better experience. The cost difference per person is small but the experience difference is enormous.
🏨
Stay Inside the Buffer Zone
Staying at a lodge within or adjacent to the buffer zone (rather than in Ramnagar town, 15km away) gives you more time in the park and sunrise views of forest animals. Lodges like Jim's Jungle Retreat, Corbett Machan Resort, and Aahana are right on the park boundary — animals frequently visit their lawns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your Jim Corbett trip

No wildlife sighting can be guaranteed — tigers are wild animals and their movement is unpredictable. However, Jim Corbett has India's largest tiger population (215+ tigers) and our expert guides with 10-20 years of experience significantly improve sighting odds. The peak season (Nov-April) offers 65-75% sighting rates in the Bijrani and Dhikala zones. Morning safaris have the highest success rates. Luxytrix guides track tiger movement daily and position safaris accordingly.

Jim Corbett National Park (Ramnagar gate) is 250km from Delhi — approximately 5 hours by road. Take the Delhi-Moradabad-Kashipur-Ramnagar highway. Many travellers from Noida, Gurgaon, and Delhi take a Friday evening or very early Saturday morning departure to maximise safari time. There is no direct train to Ramnagar from Delhi — nearest railhead is Moradabad (100km) or Kathgodam (80km) where our vehicles pick up guests.

Bijrani Zone has the highest day-visitor sighting rates and is most recommended for 2-3 night packages. Dhikala Zone (requires overnight Forest Rest House stay) has the most consistent sightings but permits are very limited and sell out 45 days in advance. Jhirna Zone is open all year (other zones close June-October) and has good leopard, elephant, and crocodile sightings. Luxytrix assesses current tiger sighting patterns and books the best available zone for your travel dates.

Most of Jim Corbett closes from June 15 to October 15 for monsoon. Only the Jhirna Zone remains open year-round. Jhirna is excellent for reptiles (gharial, mugger crocodile), elephants, and birds during monsoon but tiger sightings are low as vegetation is dense. If you must visit in monsoon, Luxytrix can arrange a Jhirna-based safari with nearby jungle lodges that remain open.

Absolutely — Jim Corbett is one of India's best family wildlife destinations. Children above 5 years can easily handle jeep safaris. The naturalist guides at Corbett are particularly good at engaging younger audiences — explaining animal tracks, calls, and jungle ecology in age-appropriate ways. Children's excitement during a tiger sighting is genuinely unforgettable. Some luxury lodges offer dedicated children's nature programmes, jungle crafts, and animal track identification activities.

Yes — Jim Corbett combines beautifully with: Nainital (35km, 1hr — lake, hill town, Naina Devi Temple, Snow View Point), Bhimtal/Sattal (40km — quiet lake towns perfect for birdwatching), Lansdowne (70km — peaceful British-era cantonment town), Haridwar-Rishikesh (120km — Ganga Aarti, rafting, yoga, ashrams). Luxytrix offers seamless Corbett + Nainital (5N/6D) and Corbett + Nainital + Rishikesh (7N/8D) combination packages.
